Melodie Schaffer Ocean Racing

Melodie is Racing the World Again on Whiskey Jack

Melodie Schaffer, Canada’s elite ocean racer, will join us live on the Center Stage of the Toronto International Boat Show, at 11:15 a.m. on January 24, 2026 - Sailor’s Day. Melodie and her Canadian co-skipper, Colin Campbell, will speak to us directly from her Class 40 boat, Whiskey Jack, while they race Leg 4 of the Globe 40 Round the World Race, as the only Canadian entry.

Racing from Sydney, Australia, to Valparaiso, Chile, January 24 will place Melodie and Colin in the "Roaring 40’s” in the Southern Ocean This area produces the fastest conditions for racing with waves up to 10 metres. Melodie and Colin have already experienced 8 metre waves during Leg 3. The Leg 4 route takes them past Point Nemo, the most remote place from anywhere on earth.

Melodie and Colin will talk to us about the race, while taking us on a tour of Whiskey Jack. They will discuss how to set-up a Class 40 boat for the challenging conditions, their weather and routing, and see what life is like below deck. These racers will examine the challenges and joys of competing in a 6-leg race around the world, and Melodie will share her thoughts on racing the Globe 40 for the second time.

There will be opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

Melodie is the only Canadian woman to have raced around the world via all 3 capes. She is the winner of the 2023 Canadian Rolex Sailor of the Year, the 2024 Gerry Roufs Offshore Racing Award, and the 2024 Women of Inspiration, Woman in Sport Award.

Whether or not you are a sailor , come out to see this rare live event, cheer on Canada’s racing entry, and join Melodie and Colin on the open seas.

Sailing is Better in 3D

Our proprietary technology that revolutionized how sails are made. 3Di sailmaking has evolved into a sophisticated system for engineering a sail’s structure tailored to the boat’s precise requirements, rig, and anticipated operating environment. 3Di sails last longer than any paneled sail on the market. And unlike mylar, 3Di sails will not delaminate, ever.
