A major challenge of living afloat is provisioning, boat organization, storage and comfort, whether short or long-distance cruising. This session will focus on life below decks including galley outfitting, provisioning tips and menu planning. It will also discuss safety features, chart-table organization, lighting, ventilation, berths and bedding, laundry, garbage disposal and many other resources that will enhance enjoyment of life aboard.
Liza is a lifelong sailor, both cruiser and racer. After marrying Andy aboard the classic yacht Ticonderoga she explored the world, including a 6-year circumnavigation with their three children and a sabbatical around North and Central America, Europe, West Africa and Brazil. Their Beneteau Bagheera has taken them 124,000 n.miles to 114 countries.
In 2018 she cruised with her grandchildren and helped organize an Ocean Cruising Club Rally in her local British Columbian waters. She also sailed in the OCC Azores Pursuit Rally voyaging over 3000 miles offshore from the UK to the Azores and on to Portugal.
Liza is the award-winning best-selling author of four cruising books, with Just and Still Cruising recounting their world adventures, Comfortable Cruising their coastal trip around North and Central America and Cruising for Cowards, co-authored with Andy, a current technical and practical A-Z for cruisers whether coastal voyaging or offshore. Liza also writes for many yachting magazines, gives seminars at major boat shows worldwide and gives frequent talks for a variety of clubs to inspire others to go cruising.
