Seminar Details

Jayne & Mike will provide valuable (and fun) information for anyone thinking of sailing down east. Departing from Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club they'll take you across the great Bays of Conception, Trinity, Bonaventure and Notre Dame, on Newfoundland's rugged east coast. Along the way they'll tie up in fishing harbours, anchor in tiny coves, be visited by dozens of whales and go hiking in Terra Nova National Park. Jayne always has a special "In The Galley" feature to add!

About Mike Evans & Jayne Finn

Jayne and Mike met in Toronto, fell in love with sailing, and have been cruising extensively since 2001 on their Niagara 35 Phantasia II. Their travels with "Phanty" include exploring 3 of the Great Lakes and 5 provinces. "We just wanted to see a bit of Canada"

Mike is an accomplished woodworker and marine technician while Jayne does canvas work, makes sails, paints and sketches. They have published articles & photographs in Cruising World and Sail magazine.

Previously in Newfoundland Circle: Part 1, they voyaged from Lake Ontario to The Bay of Islands on Newfoundland’s west coast. In NLC Part 2 they sailed Phantasia up The Strait of Belle Isle to Labrador, then down Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula to Lewisporte. NLC Part 3 covered sailing from Notre Dame Bay to St John's.

Next year they plan to sail up the pristine Labrador Coast, possibly as far as Torngat Mountains National Park.

Their Gone Sailing series of DVDs is available through Nautical Mind books and Vimeo on Demand,
