Pamela Bendall acquired the tricks to safe, enjoyable, and practical offshore sailing the hard way. Her recently released book, “ What Was I Thinking? Adventures of a Woman Sailing Solo ” describes her vertical learning curve in the transition from a successful Canadian investment broker to managing an offshore vessel – solo. Through sheer determination and fortitude, Pamela has now mastered the art of fully operating her luxury 50,000-pound steel boat Precious Metal at sea. Pamela has her Masters Captains license, owned and operated a sailing charter business, and sailed over 100,000 oceans miles throughout the North and South Pacific, Caribbean, North, South and Central America. Toronto born/Vancouver based Pamela (Roy) Bendall has sailed for more than 30 years over 100,000 ocean miles to more than 100 countries – many solo.
