New Devices To Improve Safety On The Water

Toronto International Boat Show
4:00pm - SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 2017
Enercare Centre, Presentation Theatre

Seminar Details

Everyday boaters and sailors are usually hesitant to try out new technologies and prefer to stay closer to equipment they are more familiar with. In this seminar, you will be introduced to some interesting new technologies that are available right now to improve your safety on the water. Topics up for discussion will include:

• Wireless cut-off switches

• Virtual AIS devices

• Marine PC devices

• Mobile navigation software aids

• Virtual reality and smart chart AIS

• Thermal imaging sensors

While each topic is a vast field in itself, the seminar will provide a starting point to discover new technologies and arm you with the best tools available out there to stay safe on the water.

About Sheldon Foulds

Sheldon is a technology and outdoor enthusiast who has been actively working the last four years to help boaters embrace new technologies.

Coming from an engineering background and being relatively new to the boating scene, Sheldon likes to keep an open mind and understands that the boating industry is slow on adopting new technologies. That is why he is a strong advocate of embracing new technologies while respecting traditional boating/sailing tools and delivers seminars on the use of software and other modern tools to improve safety and efficiency on the water.

Sheldon also serves as a technical services specialist at Johnson Outdoors Canada where he spends his time understanding boaters across the industry to help improve software and services delivered by the team at Fugawi.
