Elaine & crew mate Jen first met on board Sea Dragon, a 72ft steel hulled sailing vessel built originally for the Global Challenge Race, as they prepared to sail across the Atlantic Ocean as part of a strong all-female crew of 14 called eXXpedition. This was a mission to make the unseen seen, from the plastics and toxics in the Oceans to those in our own bodies. Join them in the Sailfest Theatre to hear about this adventure, how it has inspired them to plan a mass engagement project with the same mission and vision here in the Great Lakes on the 20th August 2016, and how you can get involved.
Elaine & Jen met as crew mates sailing across the Atlantic Ocean with 12 other women on eXXpedition in November 2014. Elaine a seasoned sailor, and Jen having never sailed before, they quickly bonded over being the only Canadians, and their passion for the Oceans, the Great Lakes, adventure and the interconnections between human and environmental health. EXXpedition was a mission to make the unseen seen, from the plastics and toxics in our Oceans to those in our own bodies. A year on, they are now planning a mass engagement project with the same mission and vision here in the Great Lakes in August 2016. You can learn more about the mission at: www.eXXpedition.com/greatlakes2016. Elaine is a Clinical Psychologist and mother of three living in Oakville, Ontario. Jen is a filmmaker and owner of an outdoor recreation park in Bayfield, Ontario.
