Careers In Boating/lib/img/gallery/img08529155919.png

Thinking about a new career? Looking for a change?

Think about the recreational boating industry!  Like many industries these days, the recreational boating industry is experiencing a serious shortage of skilled people.  Retirement and an aging workforce are making it harder and harder for marine industry related businesses to find properly trained people.

What is potentially bad for the industry can be very good for you (and anyone else that is looking for an exciting career).  The shortage of people opens up many opportunities for training.  Combine training with a skills shortage and you have a demand for your services.
Get the proper training.  The industry offers a great lifestyle and you can work almost anywhere in the world (70% of the world is covered in water!). The main shortage in the industry is marine engine technicians - the people that service and repair boats.
Careers In Boating is a  program created by the industry to address the shortage and find and recruit new people.
Three colleges offer 2 types of training (1 year certificate/diploma and apprecticeship).  Learn more about these at www.careersinboating.com
Check out this site and ask the Ontario Marine Operators Association or one of these colleges about how you can be part of the recreational boating industry.
CHECK OUT THE LIVE DEMOS AT THE SHOW - Marine Engine Technician students from fhe Midland Campus of Georgian College will be providing live demos of their trade.
